Make Christmas memorable for the right reasons

November 23, 2016.

With Christmas just around the corner, it's a timely reminder to maintain our safety so we can celebrate with our families on Christmas day. A number of hazards exist around the home during the festive season, some you might not even recognise. Things to watch out for include:

  • Small choking hazards around the Christmas tree including ornaments, tinsel, snow decorations.
  • Faulty wiring and electrical cables in your christmas lights.
  • When hanging lights and decorations on your roof and house, conduct an inspection first as there may be some damage or changes over the year which could cause a fall. Also ensure your not working in wet weather.
  • Be mindful of children in the kitchen if your cooking that delicious roast, little fingers can get burned and pots can be pulled from the stove.

Stay safe, enjoy your Christmas and see you in 2017!

Summer Loving

January 25, 2017.

With all this beautiful warm weather, most of us are bound to head down to a local watering hole to cool off. That may be a pool, beach, dam or river, but whatever the method please ensure your up to scratch with your water aid. Remember:

  • In a drowning: turn the casualty to clear the airway of excess fluid then commence 30 compressions to 2 breaths if not breathing until help arrives.
  • If your heading to the beach, chuck in bottle of white vinegar to assist with jellyfish stings and also an esky of ice to keep your fluids cool for hydration.
  • If anyone approaches you saying their lips are tingling and blue ringed octopus inhabit the area, stay on guard as they may stop breathing at any stage and require CPR.
  • DO NOT Dive off jetty's or out of trees into rivers. You risk a spinal injury!

Enjoy the weather and remember to take a small first aid kit on your holidays just in case. Head to our products page for a decent First Aid kit!
